i dont think ive ever found the status bar in the composer window useful (well, maybe once).  being able to just hide it completely would be awesome.  when i type e-mails, i dont care what col/row my cursor is at.  that leaves spell checking, but that status info is already available via a button in the toolbar.

Thank you for your feature request. Kmail1 is currently unmaintained so we are closing all wishes. Please feel free to reopen a feature request for Kmail2 if it has not already been implemented.

This is not something we will implement. The status bar is required as it contains a lot of information.
