As for now, it's quite impossible for my (Belarusian) language to translate the following gettext messages correctly (found in kfindpart.po):

The problem is that the dialog is constructed the way that's a bad one because in some languages there are many plurals, another order of words etc. Such separation of a single message (no matter what are the developer matters for doing so) is a really bad thing for program because lots of languages that are supported by KDE just can't translate the stuff without any "language" errors.

In kde 4.6 all messages use proper plural form, this is fixed.

For the other issues you reported, the devels need some input what and how to change the layout. Please consider that an english speaking developer can't know the needs of all languages in kde.

Me as translator from de team does not have your reported issues in locale de, only one minor issue with missing context for this string, which leads to a wrong translation in german:
