KMail will not retrieve e-mail.

I'm running KMail 1.9.10, on KDE 3.5.10, in Kubuntu 8.04, amd_64,
and trying to retreive from a pop server (gmail).  Kmail has ran fine for the last two years, that is,
until now.

One minute it was fine, a few minutes later it wouldn't respond to a request to check mail (pop).

There is no error message. There is no response from KMail of any kind. Nothing. Zero. Zip. Zilch. Nada.

I've un-installed KMail, several times, removed any trace of it, including the e-mail ID and configure files, and re-installed it from scratch. No joy. Each and every time the result is the same, it won't retrieve e-mail.

I've checked the dependencies and they are all installed. This has to be an bug within KMail.

I've done some research on the 'Net and it turns out this is a more common problem than I first thought. Trouble is, no one has the answer.

Any suggestions on how to solve this problem would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you for your e-mail.
That was so long ago I had totally forgotten about it
and I stopped using KMail many months ago.
IF, IF, KMail can ever properly handle HTML mail, which
is better than 90% of the e-mail I receive on a daily
basis, I may consider using KMail again.

Hello! Sorry to be the bearer of bad news, but this version of Kmail has been unmaintained for many years so I am closing this bug. Please try using the latest version of Kmail to see if your issue persists. If it does, please submit a new bug in "kmail2". Thank you!
