Since quite a while, Mac OS X offers an alternative way of emptying the Trash: In a secure way by invoking the "srm" command. See http://srm.sf.net/ for further details on that command.
It would be nice if KDE/Dolphin adds that functionality -- preferably by holding down a modifier key while activating the context menu of the Trash.

macOS has since removed the feature, as it's essentially impossible to implement on modern SSDs. The same is true for us too, unfortunately.
