Out of curiosity what key do you suggest for the current "up/down" key actions (scroll the mail text)? Wow, that works indeed. Well, I always disable the preview of mails so actually nothing happens when click the down arrow. Now that you've said this I checked it out for myself and it does work like you say. 3.5 years of using kmail and I just discovered this new feature.
