Thanks for the report. Is this still reproducible with Konqueror 4.1? And if yes, could you provide a link to a problematic page or any other information that might help to reproduce the bug? Hi, I haven't seen exactly the same error message with Konqueror from KDE4.1. I have seen a message saying that there was a connection problem, which has appeared immediately after clicking on a link, but not the same as the one I describe above (not with any timeout info). This has e.g. happened several times on bugs.kde.org (e.g. when clicking on the "Continue" buttons in the bug reporting wizard). I guess a lot of the bugs.kde.org users are using a brand new konqueror, so if nobody else has reported the original problem may have been fixed, and the error messages I have seen later may have been coming from some network problem between me and the outside world. Torquil I'm closing this report. Tourquil, please reopen if you find a way to reproduce the bug. Thanks! Just to confirm that I've been seeing this bug with Konqueror in KDE4 through to KDE 4.4.1 (just downloading the Ubuntu packages for KDE 4.4.2) and I've stumbled across a site that has done it three times in a row. It works perfectly in Firefox. I also get the same issue in Konqueror trying to sign in on the front page once I have signed up in Firefox. Trying to sign up for a (free) Pixelpipe account here: https://pixelpipe.com/signup I get the following timeout error within about 2-3 seconds on hitting the "Sign Up" button. Details of the Request: URL: https://pixelpipe.com/signup Protocol: https Date and Time: Friday 02 April 2010 10:25 Additional Information: pixelpipe.com Description: Although contact was made with the server, a response was not received within the amount of time allocated for the request as follows: Timeout for establishing a connection: 20 seconds Timeout for receiving a response: 600 seconds Timeout for accessing proxy servers: 10 seconds Please note that you can alter these timeout settings in the KDE System Settings, by selecting Network Settings -> Connection Preferences. Possible Causes: There may have been a problem at some point along the network path between the server and this computer. The server was too busy responding to other requests to respond. Possible Solutions: Try again, either now or at a later time. Contact the administrator of the server for further assistance. Please can this bug be reopened and investigated ? Ironically I got the same timeout error when clicking on the link back to this bug from the output of the process_bug.cgi link from submitting that last message, again within just a second or two of clicking. This is KDE 4.4.1 on and an Intel AMD64 (Intel(R) Core(TM)2 Quad CPU @ 2.40GHz) Kubuntu 9.10 using the Kubuntu PPA for the latest release (still downloading 4.4.2). chris@quad:~$ apt-cache policy konqueror konqueror: Installed: 4:4.4.1-0ubuntu1~karmic1~ppa1 Candidate: 4:4.4.2-0ubuntu1~karmic1~ppa2 Version table: 4:4.4.2-0ubuntu1~karmic1~ppa2 0 500 http://ppa.launchpad.net karmic/main Packages *** 4:4.4.1-0ubuntu1~karmic1~ppa1 0 100 /var/lib/dpkg/status 4:4.3.5-0ubuntu1~karmic1 0 500 http://mirrors.uwa.edu.au karmic-backports/main Packages 500 http://archive.ubuntu.com karmic-backports/main Packages 4:4.3.2-0ubuntu3 0 500 http://mirrors.uwa.edu.au karmic/main Packages 500 http://archive.ubuntu.com karmic/main Packages I can confirm this bug still exists in KDE 4.4.2. root@quad:~# apt-cache policy konqueror konqueror: Installed: 4:4.4.2-0ubuntu1~karmic1~ppa2 Candidate: 4:4.4.2-0ubuntu1~karmic1~ppa2 Version table: *** 4:4.4.2-0ubuntu1~karmic1~ppa2 0 500 http://ppa.launchpad.net karmic/main Packages 100 /var/lib/dpkg/status 4:4.3.5-0ubuntu1~karmic1 0 500 http://mirrors.uwa.edu.au karmic-backports/main Packages 500 http://archive.ubuntu.com karmic-backports/main Packages 4:4.3.2-0ubuntu3 0 500 http://mirrors.uwa.edu.au karmic/main Packages 500 http://archive.ubuntu.com karmic/main Packages Whilst the bug still happens in KDE 4.5.0 beta2 the message has now changed to: The requested operation could not be completed Connection to Server Closed Unexpectedly Details of the Request: URL: https://pixelpipe.com/signin Protocol: https Date and Time: Sunday 13 June 2010 12:16 Additional Information: pixelpipe.com Description: Although a connection was established to pixelpipe.com, the connection was closed at an unexpected point in the communication.
