Also the only thing I changed on my set up today is I changed the default login manager from KDM-KDE3 to KDM-KDE4 (which looks better). *** This bug has been marked as a duplicate of 164296 *** I don't think this bug is a duplicate of the bug mentioned, please look into it further. For starters, that bug is marked as resolved, and my bug is still happening. (The bug report that was linked says this was fixed in RC1, and I'm using RC1 and I have the problem). Second, that bug mentions that this happens with MPG files, and for me, MPG files are fine. I could be wrong but please make sure it's really the same thing. In further testing, this happens with all AVI files, and is now happening even when I just highlight the video file before I get a chance to right click it. The info on 164296 is wrong - the fix has been applied _after_ RC1... *** This bug has been marked as a duplicate of 164296 *** Thanks, my questions is what exactly is going on. Today, I had an AVI file that I watched and I launched it from Dolphin just fine. In fact, I watched several AVI files today with no problem. Out of nowhere, now if I highlight any AVI file it crashes Dolphin. If I knew what was going on maybe I could find a work around? It seems odd that the problem would manifest itself like that. Peter Penz wrote: [bugs.kde.org quoted mail] The root cause was that 2 Strigi indexing components had some serious issues. The indexing components have been disabled, but the problem was that on existing installations the old indexing components still where available. A fix has been made after RC1 that the old indexing components get overwritten by dummy indexers, so that strigi won't use them at all. I have too less knowledge about strigi to be able giving more details how you can workaround your problems. Removing those 2 indexing components should be sufficient, but I don't know the name of those 2 components anymore... If you don't compile yourself: please just wait for the final release, it's just 2 weeks away ;-) Hi! I can confirm this bug with 4.0.98. I only have to move the mouse over a videofile and dolphin crashes. I think it has something to do with the preview (which is switched off). I have Ubuntu 8.04 debs installed. |
