Summary: KNode does not work if MODE READER is not supported
Product: knode Reporter: Johan Billing <jobilling>

Description Johan Billing 2008-07-05 21:35:55 UTC
Version: 0.99.01 (using KDE 4.0.83)
Installed from: Ubuntu Packages
OS: Linux

When I try to connect to a NNTP server that does not support the MODE READER command, I get the following message:

Internal Error
Please send a full bug report at http://bugs.kde.org
Unexpected server response to MODE READER command:
500 Unknown command

As far as I know, support for the MODE READER command is optional for news servers and I wish that KNode would just ignore it if the command is not supported (that's what it used to to in KDE 3).
