... but what about soundcards with separated left/right channel? My M-Audio audiophile 24/96 has no master channel, only ADC (x2) and DAC (x2).. So is it possible to add a selection of 2 channels?

Cristian, what's the status on this one?
I think thas it's a nice feature to implement. Master channel should control 2 or more channels. Users have 7.1 speakers, and soundcards have 3-4 outputs, and master volume should be able to control all of them.

This feature - while definitely nice and even useful to me - is on hold, due to the excessive work needed. Help would be appreciated.
