Description Dotan Cohen 2007-12-21 03:36:43 UTC
Version: 1.2.5 (using KDE KDE 3.5.8)
Installed from: Ubuntu Packages
OS: Linux

There does not seem to be a way to easily link people in Kontact. For instance, if I have a contact Ety Cohen who is married to Dotan Cohen, then I'd like a way to associate the two. Then, by opening the contact "Ety Cohen" I would have a link to "Dotan Cohen". Additionally, this could be extended to prevent duplicate anniversary notifications.

This bug is _not_ a dupe of bug 154411 (also filed by me). Bug 154411 requests the ability to add spouses and children to existing contacts, not to associate contacts. I am reopening this bug, as the two are not related. My previous PIM software, Pocket Informant, had this feature and I used it extensively.

Bug #128524 is asking for the same feature. I missed that bug while filing, sorry. In that bug, it was suggested to use custom fields to store this info, however, that is not ideal because:
1) There is no way to them select a contact from a list to enter the date
2) After the data is entered, there is no clickable link to the associated contact.

This feature could be very easily implemented by adding the "People Present" (translated, sorry) tab from Korganizer and the Kontact ToDo application.

The development of the old KAddressBook will be discontinued for KDE 4.4.
Since the new application has the same name, but a completly new code base we close all bug reports against the old version and ask the submitters to resend there reports against the new product.
