Description Tuomas Suutari 2007-05-17 11:27:07 UTC
Version: 3.0.2 (using KDE KDE 3.5.6)
Installed from: Gentoo Packages
OS: Linux

When using KPhotoAlbum with some locales the Annotation dialog appears to be empty.

These are the locales that I have found to have this problem: cs, ru, ja.

To reproduce start KPhotoAlbum with
KDE_LANG=cs kphotoalbum
and go to annotation dialog.

The problem is probably related to layout.xml file. See http://mail.kdab.net/mailman/pipermail/kphotoalbum/2007-February/002763.html
for more information.

Seems that SVN (trunk) version has this same problem too.

OK, it seems that this is caused by non-translated names in default-layout.xml. OTOH, I think we can just postpone it because the kde4 version won't suffer from that.

Does it mean the bug won't be fixed for 3.x.x series ?
Comment 5 Jan Kundrát 2008-01-10 16:47:07 UTC
Unless someone provide a patch, I'm afraid this won't be fixed. I've played with it, but didn't find any fix except disabling custom layouts completely. This is what was done for the KDE4 version.

It should be noted here that workaround is to:

1) remove layout.xml (*NOT* index.xml) from your photo directory if it's here
2) run `KDE_LANG=en_US kphotoalbum`
3) select one picture
4) press Ctrl+1 for annotation dialog
5) press Options->Save Current Window Setup
6) exit KPhotoAlbum

Any further sessions will work perfectly.

ok, the kde3 barnch is not maintained anymore (for some time), the kde4 version uses different code for the dialog layout.
