Erik, Are you installed avi file library to view these video files ? Gilles Caulier Yes I am using fc6 together with the livna rpms, and I have kdemultimedia-extras-nonfree installed so that each avi shows its first frame as icon. The problem basically started when my daughter bought a camera with very high quality avi's and sent them to us. I cannot run digikam on my basic directory with pictures and avi's any more This bug might be related to http://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=141132 It then might be the same bug as http://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=149267 http://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=145497 which has beeen fixed. Could you try with - Exiv2 0.15 - libkexiv2 0.1.5 - digiKam 0.9.2 (or from svn) and report back? Thanks a lot in advance, Arnd All the bugs mentioned in #c3 have been solved. Erik, could you try again with current versions and see if this problem is fixed as well? Thanks a lot in advance, Arnd Erik, Please update digiKam to last 0.9.3 and check if problem still exist Thanks in advance Gilles Caulier Any news here? For me AVI support is working fine. Erik, please provide us with an update so we can further investigate the problem or close this bugreport. Andi I confirm. AVi support work fine here too (Mandriva 2008.1 and 2009.0) Gilles Caulier I close this file now. Sound like a local problem... Gilles Caulier digiKam 5.4.0 bundles will use QtAV framework instead Qt5Multimedia to thumb and play video. The Slideshow tool will also support video as well. QtAV use ffmpeg codecs. It's multi-platform and will always available in OSX, Windows and Linux bundles that digiKam team provide. For Linux packagers, you will need to turn on video support at compilation time and solve QtAV dependencies...
