This crash seems to be the fault of basket. Removing basket, Kontact starts correctly and without problems. Thanks Thomas for the hint. (anyway, could be interesting to find where is the problem with basket). Interesting comment re BasKet. I had Kontact crashes with SIGSEGV on startup, version 1.2.4 with KDE 3.5.6 on opensuse 10.1 (using KDE builds from gwdg.de). With BasKet (1.01) open, no crash. Created attachment 20210 [details]

With Kontact started after BasKet, if BasKet is quit from the system tray, Kontact crashes when clicking on the "Baskets" icon in the left pane. I can provide a crash trace on request.
