I got the same problem today. The flowers are "moving" und when I pointing my cursor on it, he say "Connecting..." and "online since ...". But I can't see any friends. One time somebody wrote me a message and I received it. But I can't answer, because kopete say that I must be online. I'm using Gentoo. gcc= gcc-3.4.6 kopete= 0.11.1 (KDE 3.5.2) qt=4.1.4 The last steps I've done: Some days ago I have updated my qt library and remerged all depencies. Yesterday I added some photos in my KDE adressbook and referenced it in kopete to use it. The last step I've done was that I tried to add a contact and I forgot that I was offline and kopete means that I must be online to do this. While the windows are open for adding a contact, I clicked on the flowers to connect. That was the first time the problem being present. I also tried to remove the ~/.kde3.5/share/config/kopeterc and ~/.kde3.5/share/apps/kopete to start kopete as a virgin. After I add my ICQ-Account the same problem was back. Only Jabber works fine. I think that is more information as you need. :-) Now I've seen that a new Qt Release (4.1.4-r2) is published in the Gentoo portage. I will update these libraries. But I don't think that this solves the problem. At the moment I compiled kopete with debug flag. This are the last lines of console output. Let me know when you need more. kopete (oscar - raw protocol): [virtual void ICQUserInfoRequestTask::onGo()] Requesting short user info for 200783275 kopete (oscar - raw protocol): [void ServiceSetupTask::childTaskFinished()] Sending DC info and client ready kopete (oscar - raw protocol): [virtual void SendIdleTimeTask::onGo()] Sending idle time of 0 kopete (oscar - raw protocol): [virtual void ClientReadyTask::onGo()] Sending client ready, end of login kopete (oscar - raw protocol): [void ServiceSetupTask::childTaskFinished()] Service setup finished kopete (oscar - raw protocol): [void CoreProtocol::addIncomingData(const QByteArray&)] Received 31 bytes. kopete (oscar - raw protocol): [virtual Transfer* SnacProtocol::parse(const QByteArray&, uint&)] family: 21 subtype: 3 flags: 0 id: 62248 kopete (oscar - raw protocol): [void OfflineMessagesTask::endOfMessages()] End of Offline Messages kopete (oscar - raw protocol): [void CoreProtocol::addIncomingData(const QByteArray&)] Received 84 bytes. kopete (oscar - raw protocol): [virtual Transfer* SnacProtocol::parse(const QByteArray&, uint&)] family: 21 subtype: 3 flags: 0 id: 62250 kopete (oscar - raw protocol): [virtual bool ICQUserInfoRequestTask::take(Transfer*)] Received short user info kopete (oscar - raw protocol): [virtual void ICQShortInfo::fill(Buffer*)] Parsing ICQ short user info packet kopete (oscar - raw protocol): [void Client::receivedIcqInfo(const QString&, unsigned int)] received icq info for 200783275 of type 1 David, the patch is already in portage kde-base/kopete-3.5.5-r2, the correct bug report is bug 136566.
