A backtrace is also essential in order to know what actually happens. Make sure Kontact/KMail is compiled from source with debug symbols enabled (./configure --enable-debug=full). hi bram, thanks for replying. kmail/kontact were both reinstalled from ubuntu 6.06 repositories. the only thing i could add is that i'm running it on an amd64 machine and that the packages might be compiled for intel32 processors. i am also running the same ubuntu on a 32bit intel laptop, and there it works (see attachment)... sorry for my dumb answer, but i really don't have the time to get into development/compiling issues now... i need to make a living. thanks again, good luck. kde is really a great thing, i have been using it for years now. best, georg On Monday, 9.
