Progress window in KNode

Description Nick Warne 2006-07-28 18:05:03 UTC
Version: (using KDE KDE 3.5.3)
Installed from: Compiled From Sources
Compiler: GCC 3.4.6 -march=athlon-tbird
OS: Linux

I was checking an old account (usually junk mail) and there was over a 1000 mails... so I double clicked on the 'inline' progress bar in the status bar to get up the 'pop-up progress window' to allow me to kill the pop3 download using the red X.

Since I have done that, I cannot find away to close the 'pop-up progress window' as it appears everytime on checking mails now, and I can find no way to revert back to the 'inline' progress bar in the status bar.

The only way I have found to do this is to exit kmail and restart.

Is this a bug, or have I not found (after looking everywhere) the way to do it?

Nick

Simply clicking on the button with the arrow next to the progress bar in the status bar will close the progress window. And this setting will be remembered until you open the progress window again.

Does this not work for you?

Ahhh. I see - but this is a gotcha. The 'arrow' icon only appears IF there is mail to download and it is being downloaded... if there isn't, no icon appears, but the 'pop up window' still does after checking.

No arrow when checking 'no mail'

It also happens in KNode. If I click the "up arrow" button in the KMail component, then KNode starts displaying the progress window, too - without a way to disable it. What's even more silly is that the windows appears only *after* the message is downloaded and displayed.
