Description Ian 2006-06-21 14:47:48 UTC
Version: unknown (using KDE 3.5.3, compiled sources)
Compiler: gcc version 3.4.2 [FreeBSD] 20040728
OS: FreeBSD (i386) release 5.4-RELEASE-p14

ever since I updated to kdebase-3.5.3_1, the Storage Media kicker applet has been playing up. I upgraded to kdebase-3.5.3_3 yesterday, but it's still not functioning correctly. When kde starts, the applet loads, but doesn't display any devices. You can click on it's handle in kicker and get the normal menu options. In configure, various media types are enable, but the Media tab shows no "devices to display".

If I mount a removable device at the command line, suddenly the Storage Media applet displays all the removable devices (in my case CD & DVD and my USB drive) and functions quite normally until KDE is shut down again.

I should have mentioned that the version numbers kdebase-3.5.3_1 & kdebase-3.5.3_3 are revisions of the FreeBSD ports. I don't remember the problem in the first release of kdebase-3.5.3, but I could be wrong - certainly the applet worked correctly in 3.5.2.

The same problem on kubuntu using package from kubuntu.org.
Comment 3 Marcin SÅ‚oma 2006-06-27 19:07:55 UTC
The same on FreeBSD i386, 5.5-PRERELEASE (DesktopBSD 1.0) after upgrade form ports KDE 3.5.1->3.5.3. Applet worked correctly on preinstalled KDE 3.5.1.
