You mean to say, I've seen this cool feature in Microsoft Outlook that has these characteristics <LIST>. I think KMail could have the same thing! Please don't pass this idea off as your own. Give credit (even to Microsoft) where it is due... Actually, I've been using KDE exclusively for so long now, I was not aware that MS Outlook had something like that. I just knew they had the folder in the sys tray. But yeah, if they have this feature I would like something similar. But to include the effect that the kicker buttons now have would be even more cool. I see there is a bug/wish for something similar to this for knotify. Might also help with people transitioning from a Windows exclusive environment. Just sounded strikingly similar to Outlook... I think implementing this would be a little difficult. But the best would be to implement it similar to the way Microsoft Outlook does. For example, if I'm using Disconnected IMAP with kmail, I'd be receiving N email every check. Now if N > 1, there needs to be a good way of displaying the message. Maybe one by one. Same would stand for POP. Probably Microsoft Outlook might give proper ideas of how it does. There is the facility for a popup window already, although needing a few clicks to access: Configure Kmail - Accounts - Receiving - Other Actions - Advanced - Show a message in a popup window. But it would definitely be useful to show more information in the notification. *** Bug 116996 has been marked as a duplicate of this bug. *** Now that kmail supports IMAP IDLE, the "how to display many message pop-ups" problem will be solved. |
