Description Alfonso Lopez 2005-08-16 19:15:06 UTC
Version: 1.2.0 (using KDE KDE 3.4.1)
Installed from: Unlisted Binary Package

When changing the comment field of a jpeg Exif, the timestamp of the file is changed. I find this behaviour quite unfortunate, because I like my pictures to have the timestamp of the moment when they were shot.

I wonder if could be possible to avoid that, maybe using an option for (de)activate this behaviour, in case other people doesn't like it.

This wish is related with

  http://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=110500

and, in some way, with

http://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=110900
(reported by myself just a few minutes)
and
http://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=110527

Thank you very much

I would be happy to have the same option: turn of timestamp change
But in my case I don't change the image comment, but perform lossless rotation.

I don't think this wish is worth an own bugfile so I append it here.

Current SVN features a better solution to your problem IMO: it uses the shooting date from the EXIF header instead of the file date. What do you think about this?

Hi,

This is a good feature, but I would prefer to have the other option too, because sometimes I look for my pictures using Konqueror or the "find" command, and both of them use the time stamp instead of the EXIM metadata. And the option that I proposed would also provide the feature asked by Peter Albrecht.

In any case, thank you very much.

I agree with Alfonso Lopez: 3 Options would be the top solution:

o use current time
o pic new timestamp from EXIF data
o don't change timestamp of file at all (keep original one)

Thanks for your work!

This feature would be very useful even if it used ImageMagik, like exiftool, which already has this feature. I used Gwenview for basic editing of everything but editing metadata because it changes the file date
