Description Christian Lorch 2005-07-06 15:20:40 UTC
Version: 1.1 (using KDE 3.4.1 Level "a" , SUSE 9.3 UNSUPPORTED)
Compiler: gcc version 3.3.5 20050117 (prerelease) (SUSE Linux)
OS: Linux (i686) release 2.6.11.4-21.7-default

after clicking the letter-symbol KMail is opening a "New Mail"-Windows. But unfortunately the Mail-To-Header is wrong:

Its inserted as follows:

Vorname Nachname > <Vorname Nachname <vorname.nachname@domain.bla>

which is not good :-)

I have the problem with every contact in my KAdressbook. I KAdressbook it seems that everything is ok. Doesnt matter if its a new or an old contact.

Thanks for help/ repairing the bug.

Christian

Original reporters: Can you reproduce this bug with KDE 3.5.4 or 3.5.5?
Comment 4 Christian Lorch 2006-10-30 10:07:00 UTC
for 3.5.4 i can reproduce this bug, in 3.5.5 unfortunately not (because the mail-to-link has disappeared completely)!
Comment 5 S. Burmeister 2006-10-30 10:27:52 UTC
I run 3.5.5 and I do see the link, i.e. the name of the contact is the link.
Comment 6 Christian Lorch 2006-10-30 10:48:15 UTC
the name of the contact is a link, but it links to the contact-page, it does not open a new mail window. in the older versions there was an extra mailsymbol.
Comment 7 S. Burmeister 2006-10-30 11:20:18 UTC
By contact-page you mean internet-address for that contact? In my case it opens a composer-window. Maybe there is a hidden setting for what the link does.
Comment 8 Christian Lorch 2006-10-30 11:29:23 UTC
Sorry for confusing.

birthday reminder means the small popup, which comes by the "KOrganizer-Erinnerungsmodul"

it contains the name of the person (who has birthday), the name is a link, that leads to the same window as when editing a contact in the adressbook or in Kontact. That behaviour is the same in older and actual KDE versions.

In older versions i saw an additional mail-link-icon when the person has an existing mailadress.

the mail-link-icon worked in earlier versions as expected, but with the strange naming behaviour, in 3.5.5 it disappeared.

This bug has only been reported for versions before 4.14, which have been unsupported for at least two years now. Can anyone tell if this bug still present?

If noone confirms this bug for a Framework-based version of kontact (version 5.0 or later, as part of KDE Applications 15.08 or later), it gets closed in about three months.
Comment 10 Denis Kurz 2017-01-07 22:45:43 UTC
Just as announced in my last comment, I close this bug. If you encounter it again in a recent version (at least 5.0 aka 15.08), please open a new one unless it already exists. Thank you for all your input.
