Description Christian Boltz 2005-06-26 20:03:54 UTC
Version: (using KDE KDE 3.4.0)
Installed from: SuSE RPMs

Gwenview has a very good highlighting when moving files to another folder in the directory tree: the target folder gets a red flashing ">" icon in tree view.

This makes it clear that you've selected the correct target folder.

It would be very useful to have this red flashing ">" in the KMail folder list when moving mails around using drag'n'drop.

Maybe you should take this idea more general - it would be useful in _every_ programm that allows moving something to a tree view, for example Konqueror.

bug 93604 also asks for this feature, but isn't that specific about the way to do it. Feel free to mark this bug as duplicate of 93604 (or the other way round) - I don't have the permissions to do it.

Bug 93604 has been marked duplicate of this bug. However, the request of 93604 is much simpler.

Indeed, it is a bit disturbing to see the highlighted target folder loose its outline upon mouse-button release, concurrent with the opening of the move/copy/cancel menu. One can thus quite easily misfile messages (to adjacent folders, for example) through too quick mouse gestures. Unfortunately, I do this much too often!

Maintaining the target highlight outline would be a trivial fix to this problem. Thank you.

Kmail has finally come to KDE4(beta)!
However, hovering with the mouse no longer outlines/highlights the target folders at all. It would indeed be useful if:
- target folders over which the mouse hovers be highlighted/outlined
- upon mouse button release, maintain this highlight/outline upon display of the move/copy/cancel menu.
Thanks

I found the solution under
Bug 166790: No highlighting of target folder when dragging emails
Seems (now) to be a bug with the oxygen style; switching to plastique, for example, and highlighting now works as desired under kmail.

In the new folder tree, this is now highlighted with a big black rectangle.
