Sentry Crash Report:

Description J Appel 2005-06-25 12:30:47 UTC
Version: 1.8.1 (using KDE KDE 3.4.1)
Installed from:    Fedora RPMs
OS:                Linux

1. start kontact. konfigure kmail

--> appearance
 --> show ikon in kontrol panel

klose kontact so that u can see the ikon in your taskbar. [usually by pressing the x button]

now klick on the ikon to let kontact (and thus kmail) reappear. in 99% cases kontact krashes, w/o even telling through the crash reporter.

btw: it s not a new habit since 3.4.1, it s krashing ever since i discovered the feature, and that forgot when that was, probably the same time kde ruined my spelling :)

happy hakking.

"kontact krashes, w/o even telling through the crash reporter."

meaning kontact goes kookoobanana and the crash manager does not even appear--> no backtrace. I tried to reproduce *this* bug right now with kde 3.4.2, and the bug did not reappear. I *cannot* tell from every day use because i no longer use kontact and switched back to standalone-kmail instead, because everytime i wrote an email and tried to send it, kontact went boom.
i know i should open a new bugreport, but since you are looking here anyways.. here is the backtrace for "trying to sent an email with kontact on fedora 4 / kde 3.4.2":
