Description Dik Takken 2005-05-26 20:12:42 UTC
Version: (using KDE KDE 3.3.2)
Installed from: Gentoo Packages
OS: Linux

When I change the locale from the KDE KCM, only KDE applications are affected. Other applications like 'the GIMP' keep their default setting. Why not also change the global OS locale when the user changes the KDE locale?

And how about the other way around: When the global system locale is changed, KDE should detect this and synchronise it's own locale settings.

I opt for the second way. And vice versa :-) changing KDE should not synchronize anything but simply change OS global settings. This should be the same thing as long there are enough system settings for KDE purposes.

This one is important because some programs use the OS locale setting to determine various formats like time (24h or 12h). Setting region and language in the KDE cp do not correct anything and only a manual editing of the locale config file works.

Please update the locale settings in the OS when region and language is changed in the cp.
