Description Sebastien 2005-05-12 15:59:52 UTC
Version: (using KDE KDE 3.4.0)
Installed from: Compiled From Sources

When creating a new mail, saving it to drafs, and openning the draft back in the composer, the paragraphes don't word-wrap as if I would have not saved/reopened the mail !!

I found Bug 48392 and it say that when editing a draft it SHOULD wordwarp.
But I don't get this behaviour.

I have wordwrap turned off by default, but when I reopen draft text emails they have hard wordwraps which then have to be edited out.

Doing a few tests, this looks like user confusion, and not a bug. In text editors we are used to turning wordwrap on and off without affecting the file. In Kmail, when the file is saved to Drafts or sent, it is saved/sent in whatever form it was last viewed - if wrapped then the text is hard wrapped, if unwrapped it stays unwrapped.

So always make sure you save and send your emails unwrapped.

Maybe there could be config options to send with hard wrap or not, in addition to wrap on/off default for viewing, and the wrap column. Then you could compose with wrap on so you could see what you were doing, but the recipient would be able to view it soft wrapped to their preference. Nice but not vital.

This is a bug and exists in Kmail 3.5.9 and 3.5.10 and KDE 4.n
Wordwrap is for _displaying_ the text wrapped and not hardwrapping (and destroying) the text permanently.
This bug becomes extremely annoying if you use "save as draft" or if you need to reply resend and edit e-mails.
