Version:           0.10 (using KDE 3.4.0, Debian Package 4:3.4.0-0ubuntu3.1 (3.1))
Compiler:          gcc version 3.3.5 (Debian 1:3.3.5-8ubuntu2)

I'm using kopete version 4:3.4.0-0 I can not see any incoming text messages from another aim user.  Nothing shows up at all.  I cannot read some of the users profile also. thanks

does the non receiving of messages happen after a certain amount of time being connected to the AIM service? If so, can you try a stable SVN version to see if that fixes your problems?
