Did you try the command sane-find-scanner? If its there its a problem with kooka. If not its a problem with sane. If it can't find anything as a regular user try running sane-find-scanner as root. If its there look at the man page for sane-find-scanner to find out what to do with the premissions. Also it might need firmware. Check out the sane homepage to check. Thank you for the info. Unfortunately I quit using Mepis and went back to Winblows 98. After making the upgrade to Winblows XP I never tried another Distro of Linux until just recently when I found Freespire. I now use a dual boot option for Winblows or Freespire. I have had no problems with Freespire and now I think eventually I will be using Linux as my main OS. Linux has come a long way in under two years when I first made this post. I use PCLinuxOS 2007 on my laptop exclusively and network with my Winblows OS seamlessly. It also networks with Freespire great too. However setting up a network printer when it's attached to only one computer has been a nightmare. The printer itself does not have an ethernet card so it must be attached to one of the networked computers. Any fix for this would be appreciated also. |
