Same here on Gentoo. The problem is still there with KDE-3.4.1. The .ogg notifications only work if I do Control Centre -> Sound & Multimedia -> System Notifications -> Player Settings and set this to "Use an external player (/usr/kde/3.4/bin/artsplay)". If I select "Use the KDE sound system", usr/kde/3.4/share/sounds/KDE_Beep_Car.ogg doesn't play. Can confirm. As far as i could investigate it could(!!!) be associated with the sound chip. But when, why does artsplay as an external player plays ogg files? BTW: 3.4.1 still has the problem on SuSE 9.2. Hmmm, (thanks to Benno Schulenberg <benno@nietvergeten.nl> for the info), it seems that the .ogg notifications _will_ play with KDE sound system only if the Volume in Control Centre -> Sound & Multimedia -> System Notifications -> Player Settings is at 100%. The problem has been solved in CVS: http://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=61438 Setting the volume to max works for me. Now ogg's get played. Many thanks. As i hope with bug #61438 the bug is solved, i will close this bug. Many thanks to Peter and Benno. |
