Description Derek Broughton 2005-02-18 14:55:17 UTC
Version: 1.7.2 (using KDE 3.3.2, (3.1))
Compiler: gcc version 3.3.5 (Debian 1:3.3.5-8)
OS: Linux (i686) release 2.6.8.1-3-386

Add items to the kontact toolbar (I used Summary, Mail, News, etc - all the apps available in the kontact sidebar). Add icons to them (I used the system icons for those apps).

Toolbar "Text position" is set to "icons only"

The buttons show up until you close and restart kontact. Then, right-clicking on the toolbar and choosing "Configure toolbar" shows all the added buttons, but without icons. "Change icon" on any one of the buttons, and apply, and all of them will reappear.
Comment 1 Derek Broughton 2005-02-18 15:20:44 UTC
Oops. The product should be "kontact" or "kontact/kmail" rather than "kmail". Sorry.
Comment 2 Andreas Gungl 2005-02-18 18:11:34 UTC
This is fixed in KDE 3.4.

This bug still exists in KDE 3.5
Comment 4 Andreas Gungl 2005-12-29 18:18:56 UTC
Looks unrelated to bug 98715, as that problem is about filter action icons while this report is about adding Kontact sidebar icons to the toolbar.
Comment 5 Jaime Torres 2008-08-31 13:13:04 UTC
The toolbar problems are gone in kde 4.1.60 svn trunk 855241
Comment 6 George Kiagiadakis 2008-09-29 13:40:49 UTC
Heh, strange, I can reproduce this with kde 4.1.68 svn trunk r865463.

This bug is still alive in KDE 4.3.2 , KMail 1.12.2, Kontact 4.3.2 on kubuntu 9.10

After adding a custom button to kmail_part toolbar I lost the New Message button. To have it back again I have to right click on the toolbar -> configure -> change something and then apply.

If I switch component and, for example, take a look at my agenda and then return to kmail, the toolbar has to be fixed again. Same thing happens when minimizing to tray.

This bug does NOT happen when using kmail as a standalone app: it happens only when using it through kontact.

I understand that this is the first comment after 2008-09-29, but the bug is the same and it's still there, so I thought it was a good thing to report it.

Still there in master.

- Start Kontact, switch to the mail module,
- Add an icon,
- Restart kontact,
-> the icon is not visible (despite being visible in the toolbar configuration dialog)

This bug has only been reported for versions before 4.14, which have been unsupported for at least two years now. Can anyone tell if this bug still present?

If noone confirms this bug for a Framework-based version of kontact (version 5.0 or later, as part of KDE Applications 15.08 or later), it gets closed in about three months.
Comment 10 Denis Kurz 2017-01-07 22:16:18 UTC
Just as announced in my last comment, I close this bug. If you encounter it again in a recent version (at least 5.0 aka 15.08), please open a new one unless it already exists. Thank you for all your input.
