Version: 3.3.92 (using KDE Devel) Installed from: Compiled sources Compiler: GCC 3.4.1 MandrakeLinux 10.1, i686 OS: Linux Ever since compiling KDE 3.4 and using Konqueror browser with Bookmarks toolbar set up to show under location bar I have noticed some strange behaviour with Bookmarks toolbar. Sometimes I just find out that it just disappeared. I don't know at all what causes it to go away. I'm posting this bug here just in case someone has the same problem and so that I don't forget about it. I also hope that some KDE developer will try to keep an eye on this issue as I will try in the future. If I find out when does it disappear I will update this bug report. If anyone has any suggestion what should I try to look for please make a suggestion.
After observing this more carefully it looks like the toolbar sometimes disappears when I close a tab.
Still happens with RC1 and it also happens sometimes when I just switch from one tab to another.

this bug started to appear earlier than in 3.4, at least for me it appeared in kde 3.3.1.
I am also seeing this bug in kde 3.3.2 konqueror 3.3.2, debian-testing (etch), amd64. Konqueror opened with the bookmark toolbar turned off, when it has always been on in the past. Checking Settings>Toolbars>Bookmark Toolbar, I found that the box was unchecked. Checking the box results in the appearance of a small blank toolbar. Right click on blank toolbar gets the pop-up Toolbar Menu, but "Bookmark Toolbar" does not appear in the dropdown list in "Configure Toolbars". Bookmark list is unaffected and is fully functional from the Menubar.
I encounter this bug still often in Kubuntu KDE 3.5.4.
still happening in 3.5.4 on suse 10.0 and 10.1
isn't anyone working on this bug? it's quite annoying.
still happening in 3.5.5 on Suse 10.1. I second what Mathias Homann said, this has been happening for a long time (many older versions)...but it seems worse now. Everytime I log in to to KDE, my bookmark toolbar is gone.
steps to reproduce: 1. open konqueror as web browser 2. open konqueror as file browser with "file management" profile 3. input URL in address bar of the konqueror file browser 4. observe that the bookmark bar is missing 5. close konqueror web browser 6. close konqueror file browser 7. open konqueror web browser 8. observe that the bookmark bar is missing this does not happen if there isn't a web browser konqueror open the same time as the file browser konqueror. I hope this helps somebody fix this bug, it has been around a long time. I get the impression the KDE developers don't use konqueror as a web browser at all.
I was able to reproduce this using Jens H steps. There are other ways to get the same problem using Tabs, but I think fixing it using this steps will probably fix all the other ways. However, I wanted to add that the problem only occurs if one profile has the bookmarks toolbar and the other doesn't. When I add the bookmark toolbar to both "file management" and the browser profiles, then the problem went away completely (makes sense).
I have the EXACT OPPOSITE problem with my bookmarks toolbar. I keep mine disabled because I don't use it, but on occasion, at random, it will suddenly re-enable itself when I open the browser. It is VERY annoying. It sucks because I have to keep my bookmarks empty to keep this from happening.
This works for me in 4.1.60 svn trunk 838244. Do you still see this bug happening?
I agree with Jaime: the bug has been fixed in KDE 4, moreover konqueror in KDE 3 is no more mantained (and there is no feedback since more than 2 years)
