Version: 1.4.2 (using KDE 3.3.2, (3.1)) Compiler: gcc version 3.3.5 (Debian 1:3.3.5-6) OS: Linux (i686) release 2.6.9-cko3 It happens sometimes. Any input from the keyboard has no effect, no letters are being written down nor work the enter key. Shift + arrow keys move from a konsole session to another. Using latest debian testing.
Try a few things. 1. Start konsole from another terminal program (xterm, gnome-terminal, etc) and see what output prints. 2. Does 'Edit->Rest & Clear' do anything. 3. Have 'scroll lock' on? 4. In Configure Konsole, do you have 'Use Ctrl+S/Ctrl+Q flow control' checked?
Reopen if you have more info and xterm works. Possible PTY related?
I got the same problem. It's my first time using KDE so I'm not sure it is a bug or just a idle setting. The problem is exactly the same as Joan Tur described. Here is my answer to Comment #1: 1. Start konsole from another terminal program (xterm, gnome-terminal, etc) and see what output prints. Not tried, xterm, gnome-terminal not installed. 2. Does 'Edit->Rest & Clear' do anything. No. I tried this when I first meet the problem. Reset & Clear does clear the console, but still can't input anything. 3. Have 'scroll lock' on? 'scroll lock' is always off on my keyboard. 4. In Configure Konsole, do you have 'Use Ctrl+S/Ctrl+Q flow control' checked? No. My system: Kubuntu 7.10 kernel 2.6.22-14-generic Qt: 3.3.7 KDE: 3.5.8 Konsole: 1.6.6 In addition, sometimes when I lock the session and try to unlock it in unlock window, I can't input anything. I can click Unlock, Cancel, New Session button. My keyboard is right, because I can use Ctrl+Alt+F1 get console and log in, also Ctrl+Alt+BackSpace is usable.
I've switched to gnome so I can't check it right now. But it probably has something to do with scim input method. see bug: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/scim/+bug/66104
