Version: 3.1.1 (using KDE KDE 3.3.1) Installed from: RedHat RPMs OS: Linux Please come back to the old layout which is known from the versions 2.x. The new one is really uncomfortable. Independent from the fact that the window-layout isn't saved (see the appropriate bugs) it was an absolutely bad idea to use a default-configuration which requires it to make an additional click to open e.g. the directory view or others. Beside of that the buttons for build, rebuild, clean, run and debug-run should be visible as default like it was done in the older versions.
I wonder how much does the "Simple Ideal Mode" from KDevelop 3.3 match your needs?
The simplified ideal mode is good, but not as good as the Tabpage mode when it works. The inability to have more one row pr. column in the GUI is a limitation, not an enhancement.
Closing because - in KDevelop 3.4 the only supported mode will be SimpleIdeal - window layout is saved now - you don't have to make additional clicks anymore because the ui will remember opened state of file manager and other toolviews - build/debug buttons are in the toolbar always when project is opened
