Description Peter Volkov 2005-01-22 22:01:04 UTC
Version: 1.4.2 (using KDE 3.3.2, Gentoo)
Compiler: gcc version 3.3.5 (Gentoo Linux 3.3.5-r1, ssp-3.3.2-3, pie-8.7.7.1)
OS: Linux (i686) release 2.6.10-gentoo-r4

Hello.

I've encounter bad behaviour of cat utility in utf8 locale. In attempt to find out the reasons of such behaviour on of the developers of coreutils (Andreas Schwab) pointed me to the patch of current stabel coreutils. See this message:
http://lists.gnu.org/archive/html/bug-coreutils/2004-04/msg00021.html

After applying of that patch I have to issue `stty iutf8` command to enables better utf8 support in terminal. This solved problem with cat.

Well. What I want from konsole. I want konsole, terminal program, to enables this mode for me, if I have utf8 locale. So It's good to have such feature. It seems that xterm have something like this. But I'm not sure...

Thank you for your attention,
Peter.
