Version: unknown (using KDE 3.3.91 (beta1), Gentoo) Compiler: gcc version 3.3.4 20040623 (Gentoo Linux 3.3.4-r1, ssp-3.3.2-2, pie-8.7.6) OS: Linux (i686) release 2.6.9 when you look at the small screenshot I took, you will quickly understand, it is super hard for me to find which devices is the one i want. for two reasons 1 - devices name are un friendly 2 - recent kde 3.3 and 3.4 has no quick access to a full file name. shorten on the desktop attachment coming

ad 1)I've seen that you can change the name displayed in the properties dialog (however I don't see a way to ever revert to the original name). ad 2) on the desktop, with 3.4 you should see a tooltip (either the large one when activated, or at least one which gives the full name)
2) nice you updated this tooltip, so we can see something. 1) still, I think "Removable Media (usb/<name>)" should be change to "<name> (usb) - Removable Media" or something like that, just "<name>" straight is not a bad idea either... why would I need more information than that ? the tooltip is telling me everything I need to know write ? I never need to know I have 5 Removable Media icon on my desktop, I need to recognize in half of a second which one is which one.
Now follow-up on this one for more than one year. Moreover now it's (partly) valid only for kio media fstab backend, with the HAL backend the labels are acceptable. Since the fstab backend will disappear post-3.5 I'm closing this one as WONTFIX.
