Version: (using KDE Devel) Installed from: Compiled sources OS: Linux HP has released a very feature complete version of their printer and psc-office-device driver called hplip. http://hpinkjet.sourceforge.net/ http://hpinkjet.sourceforge.net/updates.php Part of hplip-0.8.4 is a user control program for printing, scanning and storage device mounting. This control program has a complete support for cups job control, printer status, ink level control, head alignment etc. It would be nice if this program witten in pyqt could be integrated into kdeprint. A note about integration: Now it is quite strange that a hp-printer get access by an epson ink level control program which is part of my distribution. When supporting printer control programs in kdeprint these should be setup by device not for all printers. Bye Thorsten
The new url of the project is http://hplip.sourceforge.net
I came here to file the same idea. The hplip toolset now covers a whole range of HP laserjets and inkjets, reporting ink levels, colour calibration, display of front panel and all kinds of stuff. Run "hp-toolbox" to get an idea of what it can do for your printer. It would be good as a beginning to get ink level reporting for HP printers (at the moment, you have to run a test page, or know that the hp-* command-line tools exist).
hplip have a gui with qt now. integrate this wish in print-manager?
Hi, kdelibs (version 4 and earlier) is no longer maintained since a few years. KDE Frameworks 5 or 6 might already have implemented this wish. If not, please re-open against the matching framework if feasible or against the application that shows the issue. We then can still dispatch it to the right Bugzilla product or component.
