Description Volker Kuhlmann 2005-01-05 05:30:51 UTC
Version: v0.8.3 (using KDE 3.3.0, SuSE)
Compiler: gcc version 3.3.4 (pre 3.3.5 20040809)
OS: Linux (i686) release 2.6.8-24.10-default

For some unknown reason kget expunged a download job when only 10.2 out of 12.2MB complete. Resulting file has the .part extension missing. Resume doesn't seem to be possible (incredibly bad program design...) so I copied the file to file.part, hoping to fool it into resuming. Instead of doing anything useful, kget proceeds to delete "file" (bastard) and overwrite file.part with the last (presumably) 2MB of the file to download (double-bastard).

The download job window is now empty. Since it's useless, I delete those 2MB as well and try again, clicking on some download link in konqueror. The job shows up, but is paused. Resuming it immediately creates a 2MB "file" out
of absolutely nowhere and finishes the job. Neat, but where is the first 10.2MB of that file?

Unfortunately the web site design forces me to use a browser for downloading. I wish there was something simple which just saves a file, instead of something fancy which on top of wasting my time (and bandwidth) doesn't even get the job done. I still haven't got the file, worse, I don't see how I could get it, short of using a better browser. Is it possible to get rid of this kget thing?

Can you provide a guide how to reproduce this one or test it with the latest KGet version please?
