Version: 0.15 (using KDE 3.3.2, Gentoo) Compiler: gcc version 3.3.4 20040623 (Gentoo Linux 3.3.4-r1, ssp-3.3.2-2, pie-8.7.6) OS: Linux (i686) release 2.6.9 have you guys seen "Conversation" under OSX ? they put the notify list along with the channel list on a left pane. just like a contact list ala kopete. i think it is a good idea, but if you don't like this,... maybe putting the notify list under the people list would be a good idea. quick access to who is online, open a query, etc.
You mean "Konversation" right? If yes where is the source for MacOSX package?
cartman: no, it's "Conversation". see http://homepage.mac.com/philrobin/conversation/ Mathieu Jobin: hmm sounds good, but I never used that application. could you show us some screenshots?
Created attachment 8856 [details] OS X screenshot with Conversation you can see the list of people on the channel on the right side and on the left side, list of favorite servers and channel you get favorite servers connected servers you get open channels, channels with a Heart are your favorite one, so they always there even if you are not in (grayed) shows number of unread message in the channel and open queries with peoples people with a Heart are basically my notify list. grayed is offline, regular is online and an open query is open if there is a X button on the right side. ask me any question if you want.
we're planning the sidebar, but have not decided its detail yet. this idea looks very fine to me. I'll keep it in mind. the sidebar/tablist related bugs: 67075: Tabs should have a fixed size like in konqueror to avoid... 73149: option to hide server-tabs 80342: bookmarks for irc channels 81497: Konversation activity indicators are not very clear 87998: Vertical channel Buttons list
please. tabs aren't really the solution for IRC....
I just read through your Plans_for_0.20 on your wiki. I'm happy to know you're planning for this treeview. I just wanted to remember you the details written in this bug.
I tried 1.0 yesterday. great work guys. the vertical channel list is much cleaner that the old Tabs. but what is requested in this bug is still not all in there and I wanted to post a summary just to review things. Servers and Channels on the left pane is done, thanks. Here the improvements I would wish to see: - First off, everything here can be seen in the attachment post on comment #3 - Not only the current open channel should be shown but also favorite channels. same for servers. not the full server list but the servers I connected often or the one in my config. actually, once this is done I would not need to go in the config to add a channel, I could simply add to my favorite from a simple drag in the left pane. - So it should display my favorite servers, grey out when not-connected, or normal with close button if connected. - Underneith a server, I would see all my favorite channels and notify user list. - Again, is a channel or a user query is open, the font should indicated it with a close button. if the channel/query is close, the font should be greyed out. - Open servers/queries/channels that are not in my favorite are still shown but the "Heart" is missing. (see screeshot) - To add into favorite, simply drag the item up in down in the list. - If a user is connected, but the query is not open, some sort of indicator should also show the user is available (thus notify list) (not on screenshot) that's it regards,
Renamed to state reporter intent clearly.
that's right. the channel list in Conversation is rather amazing. except that this is only the server/channels/user managements. Everything else is much better in Konversation. Actually I can't think of anything else Konversion should be borrowing from any other IRC client. but I do like the channel list in Conversation yes. Overall, Konversation is better. [CK]onfusing ? ;)
As I was indicating back with the rename, this isn't a useful report because it combines to many separate wishes into a single ticket. It also proposes some design ideas we are not interested in implementing. I'm closing this now as part of our bug tracker cleanup binge, sorry.
