Description k776 2004-12-23 06:49:59 UTC
Version: 0.8.4 (using KDE 3.2.3, Mandrake Linux Cooker i586 - Cooker)
Compiler: gcc version 3.4.1 (Mandrakelinux 10.1 3.4.1-4mdk)
OS: Linux (i686) release 2.6.8.1-12mdk

I blocked a user and deleted them. But I decided to re-add them today. So I added their name to the list, choose msn, put in their email and hit add, and it gave me this error 2 seconds after:

http://www.linuxbox.co.nz/~kieran/error.png (screenshot of the error)

The user is added, but his email is not, therefore it can never tell when he is on, and does not display a butterfly next to his name.

However, after moving them to the allow list in kopete preferences, I no longer get the error.

So, automaticly move the user to the allow list before re-adding him, or do what msn does, where you can add the user, but he is still blocked until you unblock him.

Any conformation on this??
Comment 2 Matt Rogers 2004-12-31 20:55:32 UTC
we have to reproduce it ourselves in order to confirm it.
Comment 3 k776 2005-01-01 02:02:14 UTC
Ok, not hard to do. Just take any contact, block him/her, delete
him/her, then re-add them using the add contact wizard not using the
"kontact address book". You'll get the error, and they will be added
but something doesn't go right and the butterfly next to them doesn't
show meaning it doesn't show online/ofline etc.

Then, you will find that if you go to the allow list in the msn
accounts preferces, put them in the allow list, you will be able to
add them, no error, working properly.

Like I said, add them still blocked (like microsoft's msn), or move
them to allow (unblock) then add them.

Comment 4 Olivier Goffart 2005-01-11 14:47:52 UTC
I'm unable to reproduce it.
try a newer version of Kopete.
Comment 5 k776 2005-01-11 20:01:39 UTC
I would but dont know how. It doesn't appear in Mandrake Update
Control Center, and there is no rpm pack for download, only source
which I have to compile and I'm no good at all with that. Consider
making some RPM's for users?

Comment 6 Olivier Goffart 2005-01-11 20:50:20 UTC
Kopete is a part of KDE 3.3 (in the kdenetwork module)

Comment 7 k776 2005-01-14 01:10:07 UTC
I would use KDE 3.3, but isn't it a huge download :o
