Version:           3.3.1 (using KDE 3.3.1, SuSE)
Compiler:          gcc version 3.3.3 (SuSE Linux)
OS:                Linux (i686) release 2.6.4-52-default

I noticed many times that selecting test(words,letters)in forms where I can write to, such the one from which I'm writing now, or the addressbar(more frequently) hangs konqueror and sometimes the whole kdedesktop for 3-4 seconds.
I experimented this on Fedora 2 e 3 and I'm having confirm with suse 9.1.
What it can be I though,but without confirm might be 
-spell checking
-selection copy

I noticed this much more starting from kde 3.3 even if I recall events from 3.2.x also
