Version: 0.9.0 (using KDE 3.3.89 (CVS >= 20040820), compiled sources) Compiler: gcc version 3.4.2 20040820 (prerelease) (PLD Linux) OS: Linux (i686) release 2.6.9 Kopete does not show the Subject of Jabber messages and does not allow sending messages to jabber contacts with subject. The wishlist item is about adding theese features :)
Not sure if to mark it as Jabber or as Chatwindow wishlist, but apparently its more about jabber, since its the only protocol that supports subject for messages.
But where would we type the subject ? This kind of change would require the plugins to be able to add a field to the chatwindow ... is it really so useful ? Or we could have an IRC-like subject/topic : we set it with right-click/context menu/change subject and it would be sent with all messages ?
I'd say allow it to be a part of the message itself. Add a lineedit over the richtextedit widget, a lineedit disabled for non jabber contacts and disabled by default on jabber - enable when you check a checkbox 'Message has a subject'. A second idea is to disable subject in chat and only allow it on 'Send single message' (when chosen from the RMB on contactlist). Last idea - make a separate chatwindow for jabber only and add RMB with 'Send message with subject' I'd prefer the first one (it would also ease receiving messages with a subject - they would be shown in the chat window (ex.
Subject:$subj

textofmessage).
This is a usecase for the Kopete email window. It used to work in a very early version, then has been abandoned for a long long time. I've been told it has been reactivated, so actually Jabber should be using it already. I'll have a look.

Email message works, but has no Subject field
Dear user, unfortunately Kopete is no longer maintained. Please migrate to another solution, e.g. for Jabber a possibility is Kaidan, for Matrix a candidate is NeoChat.
