Description Thomas Zander 2004-11-10 21:46:55 UTC
Version: 1.7.50 (using KDE 3.3.89 (CVS >= 20041104), compiled sources)
Compiler: gcc version 3.3.4 (Debian)
OS: Linux (i686) release 2.4.21

Its impossible to navigate the status combobox (just above the topics list) using the keyboard.

To reproduce:

press alt-u and notice how the combobox becomes 'selected'.
Pressing [space] moves my current email down, I expected the combobox to open.
Pressing [down] moves my current email down, I expected the combobox to move to the next item.

Alternatively:
click in the search box and press tab; the combobox is again selected.
Pressing space does not do anything.
Pressing tab again moves the focus to an unseen widget.
Recovering with shift-tab is impossible; my focus is gone.

Worst of all:
press alt-u and notice the combobox to be selected.
Press 'd' to selected the 'Deleted' item in the combobox.
I expected the combobox to change
I see my selected item being deleted!

Alt+U, Alt+Down

Jan, thats not the way we work here.

I report a bug in KMail because it does not work the same as the rest of KDE, and because you know how to work around those limitations does not make it a 'worksforme'.

In other words; I did not ask you to give me support on KMails usage; I told the KMail developers of a problem in their application.

Fair enough, but it's sometimes hard to differentiate between 'certified' useability people and people with a pet peeve WRT a particular piece of functionality. I know that especially the way Up/Down/Left/Right work in kmail is widely misunderstood.

I just try to help to do initial bug triage. I was wrong :)

Just checked that with KDE4.1+ from svn trunk (r860647) and the problem still exists.

Lets close this one now :)
