Description Michal Svec 2004-11-08 16:29:46 UTC
Version: 3.3 (using KDE 3.3.0, SuSE)
Compiler: gcc version 3.3.4 (pre 3.3.5 20040809)
OS: Linux (i686) release 2.6.8-24.3-default

I'm not sure if it applies to all countries, but in some there is to each day assigned a (first) name and persons with that name celebrate that day as their "name day".

The extension could be very simple: it should be enough if there's a possibility to enter some pseudo-holidays to the holidays_XX files, which will be just displayed, but won't be handled as holidays.

There's already an example in the CVS: look at holiday_pt, there are the names commented out.
I can supply the names for _cz.

Planned for KHolidays in SC 4.6 is holiday categories to tag holidays with, which will include Name Days.
Comment 4 John Layt 2014-06-20 19:07:53 UTC
In 4.14 support has been added for categories in KHolidays. One such category is "nameday". We also already have support for splitting files by category, and for a global file using a country of "xx", so all the technical parts are in place for this. In fact, we already have the first file "holiday_gr_el_nameDay" with all the Greek name days. See http://community.kde.org/KDE_PIM/KHolidays/File_Format for more details on how to write a file. If you create any files, please attach them to a new bug report to be merged.
