Description Luc-Olivier de Charri 2004-10-29 18:55:45 UTC
Version: 2.3 (using KDE 3.3.0, Gentoo)
Compiler: gcc version 3.3.4 20040623 (Gentoo Linux 3.3.4-r1, ssp-3.3.2-2, pie-8.7.6)
OS: Linux (i686) release 2.4.25

Hello,

To debug my network code, I need to use allot of log files which are usually opened in my kate active files list. When those files are changed on disk I don't want to see a (big) warning box (kate 2.1 and 2.3), but I really prefer when there is only a small warning icon beside each changed files (kate 2.2).

It's nothing critical, but I just loose some times clicking on a button as I don't always want to consider those files.

I just noticed that sometimes, for obscure reasons to me, the (big) warning box do not show up when the file is modified on disk.

Could you make it configurable ? Or you can just add a option box "do no show this warning again" in the warning dialog box.

Thank you,
    Luc-Olivier de Charriere

Ditto. Hate this, working on website scripts in Kate, keeping the Apache error_log open in Kate to keep an eye on error messages.

And that gruesome "File has been reloaded, whatcha wanna do" popup appears with every error.

Granted, I could try making less errors ;-) , but that's not a valid solution. I need a way to make sure that popup *never* appears, or the file auto-reloads on its own unless changes have been made to it.

I think this can be done using a KMessageWidget like it is done for the data recovery message?

Dear user,

this wish list item is now closed, as it wasn't touched in the last two years and no contributor stepped up to implement it.

The Kate/KTextEditor team is very small and we can just try to keep up with fixing bugs. Therefore wishs that show no activity for two years or more will be closed from now on to keep at least a bit overview about 'current' wishs of the users.

If you want your feature to be implemented, please step up to provide some patch for it. If you think it is really needed, you can reopen your request, but keep in mind, if no new good arguments are made and no people get attracted to help out to implement it, it will expire in two years again.

We have a nice website kate-editor.org that provides all the information needed to contribute, please make use of it. For highlighting improvements our user manual shows how to write syntax definition files.

Greetings
Christoph
