Version: 2.3 (using KDE 3.3.0, Gentoo) Compiler: gcc version 3.3.4 20040623 (Gentoo Linux 3.3.4-r1, ssp-3.3.2-2, pie-8.7.6) OS: Linux (i686) release 2.4.25 Hello, I am editing c-like scripting file which has the .txt extention. With kate 2.2 the default behaviour where prefect, and I could edith them like c. But now (v 2.3) I can't find a way to edit those .txt like .c or .cpp. For instance, when I double-click on a word in parentheses, the whole line is selected instead of the word only. I still can configure each file with the menu Tools->Highlight Mode->Sources->C++, and for an obscure reason to me, it remember to keep the C++ highlighting and C-like editing when I restart kate. This is currently an usable workaround for me. But I'd like to be able to specify the default editing behaviour (and highlighting), or per-extention editing (and highlighting) behaviour. I hope I didn't missed an option! Thank you, Luc-Olivier de Charriere
Sorry, I commited it twice, and I can't erase this double. Please remove it.

I don't know what you mean by "I could edit them as c". We have had an issue with the double click selection not respecting language specific delimiters, but that has been fixed. If your problem is that double clicking selects a line with no spaces, it's been solved. There is several ways to set a certain highlight type for a file * in the Hihglights configure panel, edit the mimetypes or extensions for the hihglight you want active for files with a certain mime type or extension * use a kate variable, ie. add the string "kate: hl HLNAME" to a line near the beginning or end of the file. * use a file type -- in the "File types" page of the configuration, define a file type matching and add the above to it's variable property. In the next version of kate, kate will look for a file named ".kateconfig" which can hold a similar line of text. Honestly, i don't think there is any bug here. If you agree, please close it - otherwise explain the problem so that I can understand it please.
Sorry, I think I missed the Highlight configure pannel. To answer your question, I meant "edit them as C" is "to use the C specific delimiters". Parentheses in my case. For some reasons I didn't had to configure it in kate 2.2. I just want to add that Kate will be my favourite editor for a long time ;) Great work!
