Version: (using KDE KDE 3.3.1) Installed from: Debian testing/unstable Packages OS: Linux -I own a PowerBook G4 -kernel 2.6.8 -i've loaded the modules for alsa for ppc platform (snd_powermac) -arts starts with no problem (no error is reported), but when a sound starts playing is very noisy. Starts well (for about a second) after that it starts making only noise. I must say that if i insert the oss module (dmasound_pmac) works only on 8 bits and the noise still persists. I've searched on debian-ppc, debian-kde mail-lists but nothing. With kernel 2.4.x works well but with 2.6 it "stinks". mpg321,xmms work well (with 2.4 as well as 2.6).
Please report the debugging output of "artsd -l0", both when it starts and when you play something that ends up noisy. You will need to kill the old artsd daemon first "killall artsd".

Arts is no longer developed and has been unmaintained for quite some time - more than 2 years. With phonon as the replacement for arts in KDE4, we're closing out all the arts bugs in Bugzilla since there is no chance of them being fixed. Thanks
