Description Jason Freidman 2004-10-01 17:47:26 UTC
Version: 1.7 (using KDE 3.3.0, Gentoo)
Compiler: gcc version 3.3.3 20040412 (Gentoo Linux 3.3.3-r6, ssp-3.3.2-2, pie-8.7.6)
OS: Linux (i686) release 2.6.8-gentoo-r4

I use disconnected imap for my mail, after losing and restoring a network connections, I can no longer check mail. I can still send, but when I click check mail, either globally or for each account, nothing happens. Only a `killall kmail` solves the problem. It happens on my computer, and my friends (also KDE 3.3, gentoo, Kmail 1.7, etc).

I can confirm this bug.
I am using suspend to disk on my laptop and whenever I wake up without a network attached, kmail pops up with the network connection lost dialog. After OKing it, the network progress bar shows 97% and the task can't be canceled. Though, I don't have to kill the process, I can use the quit command of the task tray icon. I am using IMAP, btw.

Shouldn't kmail be able to reconnect whenever the network connection gets up again?

We think this is fixed in kde 3.4.
Comment 3 Andras Georgy Bekes 2005-12-06 22:38:00 UTC
Will it work if the machine gets a new IP address (and other networking settings)? (Maybe it makes no difference, I don't know, that's why I ask)
Comment 4 Andras Georgy Bekes 2005-12-13 18:14:30 UTC
Hey, You said it is fixed in KDE 3.4.
I have KDE 3.4.2, KMail 1.8.2, and this bug IS present.
So?
In which KMail version is it fixed?

I use IMAP, and KMail produces the problem if I suspend/resume the machine or the network is unplugged.

KDE 3.5
Bug is present.
I use VPN connection,
after losing VPN connection and with present Internet connection Kmail cant't work without restart

Still present in KDE 3.5.5 / KMail 1.9.5 and "Hibernate"/Resume.
Comment 7 Daniel Hahler 2006-10-28 10:58:52 UTC
..but not when KMail runs inside of "Kontact".
Comment 8 Tamás Németh 2009-01-14 20:08:16 UTC
This bug seems to return in KDE4! (KDE 4.1.3 in openSUSE 11.1)
