Version: 3.3 (using KDE 3.3.0, Gentoo) Compiler: gcc version 3.3.4 20040623 (Gentoo Linux 3.3.4-r1, ssp-3.3.2-2, pie-8.7.6) OS: Linux (i686) release 2.6.8-gentoo-r3 Since KDE 3.3 the detailed view has a strange behaviour when selecting files: on a click, the first column gets hilighted, but if one clicks onto the hilighted area right from the filename, e.g. if you want to drag, the file don't move. You have to click right on the filename to move the file, which is very confusing.
confirming for 3.5.4
See also bug 89417. I think this is by design though: this way you can get the "best of both worlds" with regard to single vs double click modes. It's easy to select a file/folder (click anywhere on its line), but hard to accidentally open it.
In svn trunk r837737, the clickable area and the draggable area are both just the file's name, so there's no longer an inconsistency
