Do you mean that you edited the filters and it stopped working. Or do you mean that you added filters and it stopped working. Sven

In all cases, when add, edit or delete filters, the buttons for mark message as Spam or not-Spam stop working. []s Huberto
I think you have to consider the order of the filters, but am not sure. I think it can happen that when you add a filter at the wrong position you disturb the span-filters. Editing is not a good idea either as this might cause the spam-filter-rules not to work anymore, e.g. if you unmark some action. If you delete the rules they cannot be applied anymore using the buttons. The buttons in the toolbar are no proper buttons but just "links" to filters, so if there is not filter, the button just does nothing. Please vote for bug 89222, as it describes that the spam-filters should not be shown in order not to be altered/deleted by mistake. IMHO the current spam-handling is not robust enough for unexperienced users.

When I restart Kmail, the buttons come back functional. > Editing is not a good idea either as this might cause the spam-filter-rules > not to work anymore, e.g. if you unmark some action. Yes, but this was not the case. I only touched in my filters. > If you delete the rules they cannot be applied anymore using the buttons. > The buttons in the toolbar are no proper buttons but just "links" to > filters, so if there is not filter, the button just does nothing. Yes, I perceived. An idea: when some another filter (added by the user) is modified, this "links" of the Spam buttons, in some way, will be broken? > Please vote for bug 89222, as it describes that the spam-filters should not > be shown in order not to be altered/deleted by mistake. Please test KDE 3.3.1 as soon as it's out and give feedback.
This is fixed at least for KDE 3.4 (and I think even for KDE 3.3.2).
