Version: (using KDE KDE 3.3.0) Installed from: FreeBSD Ports OS: FreeBSD try tha manual of postgres for example cpu usage 30% on a athlon 2000xp may be related to Bug # 85178 ( http://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=85178 )
could you please post a link to that manual? Thanks
you can get the one I meant here http://www.postgresql.org/docs/pg_handbuch/pg-handbuch.pdf.gz (4.7 MB unpacked) but you may also try the complete official handbook. http://www.postgresql.org/docs/pdf/7.4/postgresql-7.4.2-A4.pdf (9 MB) its even slower go to page 800 and move some pagees up and down and see whhat happpens :) xpdf is pretty fast there
I have downloaded the first pdf and i think the problems is related to thumbnail generation. Wait until all the thumbnails are generated and see if it continues beign slow.
you're right. once it has generated the thumbs (takes ~ 30 minutes) kpdf handles the file quit smoothly. so the thumbs have to be generated in an asynchronous way. BTW: I would find it more usefull and less expensive to see the document structure on the left side instead of thumbs that don't say anything to me (at least if the page contains plain text). it would be fine to be able to disable thumbnail generation completely.
