Version: 1.0.1 (using KDE 3.3.0, (3.1)) Compiler: gcc version 3.3.4 (Debian 1:3.3.4-9) OS: Linux (i686) release 2.6.8-1-686-smp I use often irate ( http://irate.sf.net/ ), because this program download automatically free songs I like, but irate is very basic compared to amarok. It's a cool if amarok help to diffuse free songs with the same mecanism.
i tried irate some time ago, and to be honest: it sucked for me ;-) we hame some imms-like rating system integrated in recent cvs, i think you'll be happy with it. closing this report, therefore. thanks for your support, muesli
irate download good music for me since I noted 20 songs. amarok is free program, why wouldn't amarok make the promotion of the free music? if freedom did not interest me I will use linux neither kde nor amarok. I see cvs version, the rating system is good idea, but irate is good because it's free music and it download automatically songs, not only the rating system.
I forget to reopen the wishlist report, read my precedent comment
An noatun plugin for irate is done : http://irate.sourceforge.net/kirate/
Irate and Gnomoradio are great, innovative projects that can change the future of music distribution. IMHO, they should definitely be followed by innovative mainstream media players such as Amarok to reach a wider audience and enhance the choice and quality of music available through these sources of media. Thanks for all
I was just scanning through bug reports with high votes and found this. I agree with Monsieur Grisel on the fact that Irate can change the future of music distribution, however at the moment amaroK is more about the listening, organizing and access of music than the distribution of music. The only retrievel it performs is on streams, and song related information: albumart, lyrics, artist info, similar artists. It does not have any facility for downloading/uploading music. It may be interesting functionality to add in the future, but I would see it more as a plugin as it sits outside present functionality and workflow to automatically download songs. Users have the option of course to manually check for artists which are suggested based on their listening tastes by amaroK and download their music if free. Magnatunes sponsorship of the liveCD may bring more things this way. Cheers, and this is just the opinion of a user/artist, nothing more. JPD
Sorry, we don't plan to support irate.
