Version: (using KDE KDE 3.3.0) Installed from: Gentoo Packages I am using kopete 0.90 under kde3.3. The yahoo plugin has been working erratically for me. It automatically logs out after being online for sometime. However, the msn account still remains online, therefore there is no issue with internet connection. Is it possible that yahoo server itself is logging off the client? cheers
I am using kopete 0.9.0 under kde 3.3.0 also, and can confirm the erratic behavior of the yahoo plugin. To give some more detail, I am sitting behind a nat firewall. The plugin looses connection after 60 seconds. I have been able to reproduce this multiple times. I know it isn't network issues as my wife's trillian client, the official yahoo client, and gaim's yahoo plugin's all remain connected past the 60 second mark. The sixty second mark also very's a little, sometimes only lasting 45 seconds. But, never more than 60 seconds. Could there be some kind of delayed challange responce that yahoo is expecting? If yahoo doesn't recieve the response, the server kicks you. (Only an idea.) Anyway, I hope this helps to shed some light on the issue.
i know what causes this.
what is it that causes this?
my code to handle connections that don't respond because (for example) the connection goes down.
Today seems to be bad.. anyone else having it? I cant stay connected for more that a minute or 2.. I have msn/jabber and several others doing just fine..
Maybe this is a better place for commenting this bug, I've tried on the kopete-devel mailing list, too. I'm having this problem, too, but only with my Yahoo account. It lets me in for 10 to 40 seconds, then the server sends a pager logoff packet.
I'm using kopete 0.9.1 under KDE 3.3.1 from debian/unstable and this problem is in this version. Like everybody else the MSN connection stays online but yahoo disconnects.
Please, no more comments about how it doesn't work in whatever version you have. I already know it doesn't work. :)
fixed in CVS one or two days ago. I removed my crappy keepalive code.
I'm using the 0.9.2 version, with KDE 3.3.2 in debian, and I'm still having this problem. I guess it is fixed in the 0.10 version, right ?
I have a doubt to re-open this bug. So I'll put some comment first. I'm now using 0.12-alpha1 tarball and yahoo connection seem to have that connection bug again. After online for a irregular timespan, yahoo got disconnected. The notification mesage was: "yahoo disconnected bla bla bla, error code: 0". And then any effort to bring it online is useless. I can go online gain after restarting Kopete. The connection problem has always been there since KDE 3.4.3 (as far as I can remember). Previous version (on KDE 3.5.1) was better since I was still able to bring it online again after a disconnect event. But I was tired to do it in a quite short interval. Manually connect, disconnected, manually connect, disconnected, over and over again. It was crazy!! FYI, as always, this connection problem doesn't happen on other yahoo messenger client.
The error 0 error seems to be fixed in current svn, what will be 0.12 beta1. Disconnects still occure, but only once or twice a day, but kopete will instantly reconnect automatically.
I am using 0.12 alpha1 as well. Yahoo does not disconnect for me, however it usually changes from an invisible status to an online status by itself. I guess it disconnects and when it restores the connection it does not remember that it was in invisible status before.
Confirmed #12. Kopete svn is now no longer have problem with yahoo connection and will reconnect automatically after a disconnect
I am using the latest cvs, and it does seem to disconnect quite less. However, as I stated in my previous message, even though the connection is restored after a disconnect, it does not restore the prior invisible state and puts the client back to a visible state.
the non-restoration should be a seperate wishlist item.
Probably compeltely unrelated to this happening before, but as of the last 2-3 months or so I've been experiencing times where I tend to get disconnects within one minute of signing on or connects that take over a minute to succeed. In the case of signing on, often I'll repeat two or three times and every time it will succeed, but I'll quickly be logged back off. Of course, now that I try to catch this happening in ethereal I got nothing (and I'll wait to reopen until I do). (This is also all with current svn.)
You should wait for 0.12 (beta1 is coming soon) and try again. The disconnection problem got much better there.
